Ok, so I wanted two boxwood wreaths for my hutch, but didn't want to spend the $40.00 each that they wanted. Soooo, I decided to construct my own. I mean, really, boxwood trimmings are not that hard to find. Here's how I did it:
a grapevine wreath
several boxwood trimmings (offer to trim a neighbor's shrub-lol)- I did find mine at Home Depot. A bunch for $6.00 was enough for two 10" wreaths.
hot glue gun and sticks
at least 2" wide ribbon of choice
First I layed out the boxwood branches around the wreath to see how I wanted it to look.
Then I started attaching the branches to the wreath. I stuck the stem into the wreath and then using floral wire to attach the top of the stem.
Do this all of the way around, making sure that the stems all show the front forward and going the same direction.
If need be, you can fill in spots that are lacking or bare with smaller boxwood stems, and hot glue to stay in place.
