Tie Dye, VW Bug, peace sign, flower child, hippie, go-go boots, flower power...just a few words to describe the psychedelic 60's.  Here are some groovy ideas for hosting a "60's" party.

These Are the Times Kit

Our These Are The Times Kit contains: 1 Times Arch, 1 Pair of Time Balloon Columns and 1 Giant Lighted Peace Sign. We covered the floor and the walls with our thunder gray seamless paper. We created the background with our retro gossamer.
Invitations
 
  • You can make your own by using cardstock, decorate with rubber stamps, stickers, markers, etc... draw smiley faces, peace symbols... add "Please join us for a groovy time!" .. another great idea- if possible, find old magazines from the 60's (with photos of the fashion, etc.. ) and photocopy them and glue to the front of the cards.
 
Activities
 
  • Create a 'dance hall' by decorating in 60's retro and playing 60's party music~ see ideas below~ and have a dance contest!  You could also have a contest for the grooviest outfit. Have fun with it!  Have a 60's trivia contest... winners receive beaded necklaces, smiley keyrings, 'John Lennon' glasses, peace buttons...

  • giant cutouts of peace symbols, psychedelic-looking flowers, smiley faces
  • use bright colors, ie: red, yellow, blue, lime green, and orange~you can use several colors individual twisted and then taped together at each end from the ceilings to the floors.
  • use tie dye gossamer for backdrops (see the photo above for a great look~gossamer available at Shindigz. see link below)
