It's best to host a garden party in the middle to latter part of the summer, as to enjoy all of the delights of your garden.

Garden Party Supplies
Invitations
Cut out the front of your empty seed packet and glue on the front of plain white cardstock (available at your local craft store...). Inside print the party info, such as "Please join us for a Garden Party!" and , where, and when, etc...or print them out on your computer with a special font. |
Place cards/party favors
For place cards/party favors for your guests, plant a flower in a small terra cotta pot and write the guests name on a garden marker stick and stick in the pot.
Menu
Serve a fresh salad with all of the fixins from your garden. There is nothing better than fresh tomatos, peppers, cucumbers, etc. from your garden. A creative alternative to salad tongs would be to use garden tools (new and sterlized, of course!). Your guests will love it!
Make homemade Italian Herb Dressing:
In a jar, combine 2/3 cup olive or vegetable oil; 1/3 cup Wine Vinegar; 1 clove garlic (split); 1 Tspn dry mustard; 1/2 Tspn each salt, dried basil leaves, dried oregano leaves; and 1/4 Tspn crushed red pepper. Put lid on jar and shake vigorously. Chill to blend flavors, then shake again before serving. Makes 1 cup.
Also serve rolls, fresh fruit, iced sun tea and homemade lemonade.
You could also serve chilled white wine served in wine glasses and use wine glass markers in a garden theme. Keep bottles of wine cool in a vintage steel tub filled with ice.
Decorations
Decorate your picnic tables with country gingham and bright linen tablecloths and use fresh wildflowers in vases for centerpieces. Wrap raffia around the neck of the vase for a country look.
