Boy's Rooms

Here are some themed ideas for a boys bedroom or playroom.  Scroll down for sports theme, wild west theme, and train themed bedrooms.

Sports Themed Bedroom

Boys Football and Sports Themed Green Quilt - Twin Quilt (Football) 68 x 88

Here are some creative ideas for decorating a sports themed bedroom or playroom:

  • Put a basketball laundry hoop on the back of the door.
  • Hang framed sports posters on the walls.
  • Display trophys or sports knick knacks on wooden shelving.
  • Put tall mesh baskets filled with sport balls, such as, basketballs, soccer balls, etc..
  • Hang favorite team pennents
  • Use a sports organizer bench for more storage.

We found the above sports themed bedding and accesories at Land of Nod.

Dwell Kids Cowboy Dusk Bedding Set
Wild West Bedroom/Playroom Ideas:
  • Use stained knotty wainescoting for an authentic look...
  • Purchase knotty log furniture.
  • Hang cowboy hats on the walls.
  • Use denim and red bandana pillows for accent.
  • Tie a bandana around a teddy bear's neck to make him look western too!
  • Use an old pair of cowboy boots for decoration.
  • Use horseshoes as accent on walls
  • Use gingham sheets and drapes.
  • Display horse miniatures on wood shelves for decoration.
  • Display your Lincoln Log House proudly on a dresser.
  • Change a plain denim lampshade into Wild West theme by adhering (with hot glue gun) twine, leather roping, or other embellishments.

We found these western-themed decorating items at Land of Nod.

Boy's Planes, Trains, and Automobiles Themed Bedroom
  • Construct a real train track to go around the perimeter of the room, as seen on HGTV.  Every little engineer's dream!
  • This theme is great, because you can use lots of primary colors in red, blue, and green, ie: storage containers, bedding, blankets, floor pillows, etc. are aplenty.
  • Use framed posters, prints, and shelves with railroad memorabilia for wall decor.
  • If your child is into trains, a train table is the way to go.
  • Hang framed photos of bulldozers, diggers, dumptrucks, antique cars, or airplanes...
  • Recreate "caution" yellow construction tape by painting as a border.
  • Paint a "road" curving all over the walls.
  • Hang construction signs on walls

These wonderful trains, planes, and automobiles room decor is from Land of Nod.
