Whether hosting a 50's sock hop for a classic car cruise, or treating your guests to a fun trip down memory lane, a fabulous 50's party is so much fun! Here are some ideas for fabulous 50's invitations, decorations, menu, activities, and party favors to help you "rock around the clock" at your next fabulous 50's party!
Invitations
Make mini 45 records for invitations!
Using a compass draw several (invitation-sized) circles unto a piece of semi-thick black paper. Cut out the circles. Next, do the same for smaller circles on white paper (to resemble the white area on a 45 record). Cut them out also and glue to center of black circles. Write in party information: "Let's 'twist and shout' at Bob's 50th birthday bash!"...or "Let's 'rock around the clock'"
TIP: You can also find a program to make cd labels - use real 45's and stick labels with party info right on them!
Decorations
Decorate in mostly black and white and some pink... Use black posterboard and cut out silhouettes of 'sock-hoppers' (see photos), sunglasses, classic cars, guitars, soda pop bottles, and musical notes.
Tie bunches of pink and hot pink balloons at the tie of the balloon and hang from the corners of the ceiling.
Obtain any old classic car memorabilia, fabulous 50's music, and old diner memorabilia and use to display throughout the room.
Rent a juke box
Activites
Have friends, that have classic cars, drive them over to proudly display on your front lawn...(have your own car cruise!)

Play lively 50's music and have a sock hop! Or even play 50's Karaoke! What fun!
Have a dance contest just like on Grease
Ask guests to dress 50's style: shop vintage or second hand stores for saddle shoes, bobby socks, poodle skirts, cuffed jeans and leather jackets...rent or buy a copy of Grease for more inspiration...
